Pardon me for this sloppy blog but on this inauspicious day (Friday the 13th), let me pour a little sunshine on your gloomy first-school-Friday as I present to you my list of jaw-dropping awesome sounds.

Whip out your ipod kids and get ready for some good ol’ rockin!

1. All ‘Cause of You by The 88
I stumbled upon this AWESOME band while watching one of my favorite shows which is just LEGEND…wait for it…ARY! (surely you must have guessed what show I’m talking about… If not shame on you!) They remind me of Fountains of Wayne meets Weezer meets The Redwalls. Perfect for people who are in love and have just about enough of cheesy pinoy ballads (oh snap!) Ah yes….this song may very well be my future wedding song. (DIBBS!)

2. Scared of Heights by Espen Lind
Who the goshnabbit is Espen Lind you say? Well quite frankly I haven’t heard of him either, that is until two weeks ago when I read Perez Hilton (Now before you judge, it was during my lunch break) where he was all praises for this song. Now I don’t normally agree 100% to whatever Perez says but this time he hit the jackpot!

3. Sea Green, See Blue by Jaymay
You know you can’t go wrong with a name that rhymes right? (I mean seriously Jay May?) Ok so maybe that’s not a legitimate reason for you to consider this song merits to be in the awesome list. But just listen to it (preferably when you’re relaxed or at least need to relax) and in no time I’m sure you’ll say “Ah michi…how right you are.”

4. Hologram World by Tiny Masters of Today
Kids who question the government via rock and roll? Need I say more?

5. Hit me with your best shot by Pat Benatar
Duuuuuuuude. It’s Pat Benatar. Plus you can play it on Guitar Hero 3! Double awesome!

6. Sink to the Bottom by Fountains of Wayne
May I begin by saying I love Fountains of Wayne. And not because tains and wayne rhyme, but because they come up with ridiculously cool songs like these that you’ll never out grow even when you’re no longer in high school (*sigh*).

7. Shot Through the Heart by Bon Jovi.
One word: PSYCH!

8. I Need A Holiday by Scouting for Girls
Who doesn’t? So what if school just started!Every body needs a holiday and that’s what this song so vehemently reminds us. It’s ok, go ahead cry. Or better yet listen to this song!

9. Put your money where your mouth is by Jet
You know that time when you were a kid and you first tried on your dad’s insanely cool-why-does-my-dad-have-this motorcycle jacket and felt like you’re this unbeatable superhero? No? Play this song and you won’t need the jacket.

10. Short Skirt and Long Jacket by Cake
This is the theme song for that awesome show CHUCK…Why are you still reading??
Thee not merit though explanation.

11. Fresh Feeling by The Eels
In love but you just can’t say it? Let The Eels guide you.

12. Take me to the Riot by Stars
Now if you’re familiar with Stars, you know that most of their songs are about heartache BUT in this song you’ll find none of that (well, yeah a bit). Still, the song is outrageously infectious. I promise you’ll be singing it in no time.

13. Yugto by Rico Blanco
Hu-waaaaaaaat! Did you just say-are you-su-am-I-drea- NO my friend you are not dreaming. Yes Rico Blanco is back and man are you up for a ride.
